Warrior Woman Foundation

The Young Warrior STEM Scholarship Program

Every young woman should have access to STEM opportunities regardless of their circumstances. So that is why we seek funding from a variety of sources to award scholarships to young women to attend various conferences and courses in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Below are the scholarships we currently have available.

Money Girl 6-week ONLINE Financial Independence Program

The Money Girl 6 Steps to Financial Independence Course teaches everything from budgeting to investing, building your confidence with money and to be part of a community where you can have these conversations freely – with zero judgement!

For more information, please see their website

Thanks to Harbord Diggers and the Mounties Group we have 20 scholarships for young women 18 years+ to attend MoneyGirl’s six-week Financial Literacy Course. This will take place online. More information on the program can be found here.

Code Like A Girl Courses

Do you often wonder what coding is really all about? Or do you daydream of working in the tech industry? A lot of women are intrigued by coding but are intimidated by the learning curve or simply doubt their ability. There are so many misconceptions about code, like assuming you need to be great at math or that coding is just something men are better at.

The Code Like a Girl community of women coders knows first-hand that these perceptions are absolute bollocks. Our organisation exists to dispel these myths and to empower as many women as possible with real coding skills. (But also, we just want more women in tech to hang out with.)

We are currently awaiting the result of our recent funding requests for these scholarships – but please complete an application form and we will let you know as soon as we do!

We provide a safe and welcoming space for young women to share, learn, heal and grow. Each young woman is connected with a mentor as well as a network of diverse community-minded women who provide ongoing support and share their life experiences, resources and opportunities:

  • Connection to a safe, stable, and socially inclusive network of female role models to turn to for advice and ongoing support for the duration of the six-month program.
  • Connection to a non-judgmental group of young women who are facing similar challenges.
  • Connection to Kindred Warrior Peers, young women who have experienced challenges in life and have gone on to achieve life success.
  • Weekly one-to-one mentoring sessions with a safe mentor.

We teach young women the life skills they need to succeed in everyday life. Our “teach a young woman to fish” approach gives them support and guidance at every step, knowing that true empowerment comes from them learning to do things for themselves. In particular, we focus on financial literacy and job readiness:

  • Life-skills workshops to build self-reliance.
  • A six-week Financial Literacy program (in partnership with MoneyGirl).
  • A four-week Job Readiness program.
  • Assistance in gaining and retaining meaningful employment.
  • Access to a range of vocational skills scholarships (e.g., Code Like a Girl) and internships.

Many young women experience trauma which negatively impacts their confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. We support and nurture the trauma healing process in safe psycho-educational workshops facilitated by experts. In these sessions, young women learn to engage with self-compassion, and to soften and contain threat-based emotions, such as fear and anxiety, anger, shame and self-criticism.
